First and foremost, it's important to know that not all modeling agencies represent child models. So you'd have to narrow things down to the agencies that specifically state on their websites that they have this division.

I can't really answer your question accurately because it all depends on where you're located. There are children's modeling agencies all over the country. Simply throwing out the names of some notable ones won't do you much good if you aren't located nearby.

Each market location has its share of child modeling agencies, some better than others. It all depends on who their roster of previous clients are and the strength of their connections within the industry. If you're looking for location-specific agencies for your child, I would need to know the city/state you live in (not your mailing address, though). That way I'd be able to do a search for agencies that represent children that are within a 2 hour's drive from where you live.

It isn't recommended to submit to agencies any farther than that unless you're willing to relocate, which the agency will not cover the costs for.

Typically, that phrase is "agency speak" for politely saying you aren't what they're looking for. If you don't meet the physical requirements stated -- for example, if it was a fashion agency you were talking to and you weren't within their stated height or size range, that would be a common response. Or it could mean that your look isn't one that they feel is currently in demand at the moment and they don't want to take the chance of signing you, only to have you sitting on roster the entire time without any traction.  While it's not a great response to receive, it is their polite way of saying no, thank you. Now that you have a definite answer from that particular agent, you can move on to submitting to others and hopefully find the one that you are the right type for. Best of luck to you!
