  1. Thank you !!!!
    I have a few questions
I want to model for Justice , but I don't live close or near to Ohio. How can I model for them?
I got a callback from an agency. I am sure its real because gut feeling, website, reviews, and when they interviewed my mom she said it didn't seem they were tryingto sell her something. Its called Chic models and its 8-10 mins away from my house. But, the thing that might throw me off is that I am not home schooled or in a performing arts school( my mom told me she won't home school me but maybe put me in a performing arts school). The good thing is that she told them my teacher would be okay with it and she would drive me to LA back and forth.
She also wasn't so enthusitac because she never had a phone interview from a modeling agency. They said they liked my photos and everything else seemed fine. Now they will put it through through the commity. It took them a two weeks to callback like a real agency and emailed a week later saying that got it . I am really happy! DO you think I will get in?
Also could I be a life style or sport model? I have straight teeth, I am toned and fit, I am look like I'm 11 so I'm tall for my age . But, in my opinion I don't think I look like the girl next door I look more like a Justice model. Could I be one?

  2. Hi, Emily,

If you want to be a model for Justice, that would be something you will want to mention to the agency you end up signing with. I don't know if Justice works with models out of state so there may not be a chance to do modeling for them because of that but if there is a possibility, it would be your agent's job to try and make that happen.

You don't need to be homeschooled or enrolled at a performing arts school in order to get signed to a modeling agency. They work with public school students all the time and that has nothing to do with your abilities as a model so don't worry about trying to change your lifestyle and school situation.

It is good that your mom is willing to drive you to and from castings and modeling assignments, though...that is a huge advantage and one that will make an agency interested in working with you. Any school you miss because of modeling is regarded as an excused absence so it wouldn't count against you in that sense either.

Has the agency asked you to come in person for a meeting/interview? While the other steps they've taken (that you described) seem legit, no reputable agency will sign a model or say they want to represent them if they've never met the model in person face-to-face.

So if they say they want to sign you but haven't even met you yet, that would be a red flag to me. It seems like they are definitely interested in you but it's important that they invite you to an actual interview with your mom so that you can see if they really are on the up and up as an agency.

As far as the lifestyle and sports modeling, you wouldn't be doing the same kind of modeling in these categories like grown-up/adult models would. Kid modeling pretty much includes everything that is aimed at kids and their parents so you'd likely be modeling stuff like clothing for catalogs, school supplies, school/student accessories, electronic devices, age appropriate toys, etc.

It's interesting that you said you don't look like the girl next door and that you look more like a Justice model because from what I've seen, Justice models do look like and are marketed as the definition of the girl next door. But it's up to an agency to make those calls as far as how you'd be marketed and what kind of work they can get you.

When you get signed, make sure to tell the agent what kind of modeling you're interested in (like Justice) and see what feedback they have. Ultimately, they'll make the decision they think would work in your best interest. Either way, they'll make sure to put you out there and get you the opportunities they feel confident you can take on.

  3. In addition to helping guide aspiring models who are looking for agents to represent them, I also help freelance models who act as their own agents. Freelance models find their own work and have to create their portfolios, comp cards, resumes, etc. themselves so I give them the info and resources they need to put those materials into place.

  4. Also I found out that most of them time a model with a represented agency usually makes their own. So yeah now I see!
